Ahmed Naoual
Ahmed Naoual was born in 1961 to a family of well-to-do cattle-raisers in a thriving village 70 Km to the south of Casablanca, brought up in Hay Mohammadi, the birthplace of popular culture and protest movement in Morocco, and sent to bourgeois schools in the city's central business district. Upon graduation from Hassan II University, he was assigned to the Ministry of Education as a teacher of English. After a two-year compulsory service, he was admitted to King Fahd School of Translation in Tangiers for an MA course. Once studies over and done with, he travelled round, teaching, translating and enjoying life in alien environments. He visited countries in the Arab world and Southeast Asia. Mr Naoual is currently working as a freelance translator for a number of translation firms, business organizations and public institutions. He also contributes to US-based online associations engaged in intercultural dialogue.
